On the Move Yesterday, we had Melanie’s monthly First Steps visit. Her consultant was very happy with what she saw. The December visit didn’t show much progress, so this was a nice change. She’s now moving around a lot…enough that our attention cannot be diverted. If she wants to get her hands on something, she’ll reach it. It’s not exactly crawling yet, but very close…more of an army crawl for now. She’s also easily pulling herself to her knees (usually leveraging her piano), and has even made it to her feet several times. We have a home theater PC in the living room, and sometimes have a mouse sitting on the floor with a bright red light on it. This is very attractive to her, and she’ll traverse the entire floor to get to it. Kinda funny to hear her grunting along the way…she works so hard. Solid foods are now a regular part of her diet, though formula still takes the top spot. We frequently give her “crumbs” and bits of food we’re eating, and she’s doing a great job of “gumming” and keeping the choking to a minimum. She’s not a fan of sippy cups, and just pushes them away, so the bottle will be around for a while. Great progress though! -Jarod Mommy adds that she thinks she's graduated from the army crawl and it's more of an inchworm crawl. Tonight at the Boathouse for their annual shrimp boil. A favorite in the Clarrey household. |
